Are you in the Present Moment?

Summer is a wonderful time to get out and experience our world. It’s a time to enjoy the trees and plants in full bloom. Everything seems more alive, but how much do you really notice?  How much do you really enjoy the people you are with?  How much do you appreciate the moment while it’s here?

We have talked about looking at the past as a way to learn. Let’s talk about the present. Do you spend your time looking to some future date, while letting a minute, an hour, or day pass without notice?  What if you were only focused on the moment you are in as it is happening?  Don’t let this moment pass without reading what spirit has to say about being in the present.

When you believe that what is to come will always be in your best interest and that you don’t need to spend time thinking about how things may go, you are left with only the present moment. This can be all you need to see your life as peaceful. When you are fully present and you do not worry about what is to come, you are giving yourself the gift of contentment. With this contentment comes the experience of that exact moment. In this way you are guaranteed to never miss anything. You are guaranteed to feel just what is present in that moment.

Understanding that what has happened can never be changed and what is to come can never be known, is truly the only way to be at peace within the confines of time. Every moment passes. Every moment has another one waiting. Every moment is what defines your life. Make the most of it, for this is how peace and contentment arrive.

It’s easy to let experiences pass you by.  We are often thinking about what is next. There is comfort in planning.  What if you took some time to really notice all that surrounds you?  See if the future no longer has relevance in your present state of awareness.  Let the present become part of your memories of a life well lived.

Just Be You, Trisha

Life’s Challenges

Everyone has experienced unwanted events in their lives.  These are never pleasant and sometimes life altering.  They test our resolve.  They leave us asking “why me?”  “Why did this have to happen?”  “Why do I have to suffer?”  Some react with anger. Others react with sadness. Some react with no reaction at all.  These are all states of discontent. It seems unfair to feel so bad.  We just want to feel better.  We often look outside of ourselves for the answers.  What if we looked at these types of events differently?  What if we tried to look for meaning instead?  It’s a lofty goal, but read what spirit has to say about such events.

Clarity comes from looking at any given situation as a way to learn. When you look at all sides of an event and you let go of the thinking about what you wanted, you can then begin the process of understanding. The reasons can never be known without reflection. The reasons will always be clear with pure assessment.

“Why did it happen” can come in many forms.  Sometimes it is an understanding that comes right away and other times it is an understanding many years down the road. You may not always like what is happening. You may not always understand what is happening, but you always need what is happening. This is truly how you learn. You learn what you don’t want. You learn what you do want. Maybe you learn that your reaction could have been different.

Where things get difficult is when the acceptance of what has already happened becomes a fight in the mind. Without acceptance, you cannot see clearly enough to learn. You cannot see clearly enough for assessment. Most of all, you cannot see clearly enough to move forward with a new way of being.

This is why it is so important to look at events as a way to grow. Accept all that is and thank it for helping you to see things in a different light. We are not saying this is easy. We are saying this is needed in order to avoid more discontent.

Life can be hard.  Wishing something has not occurred, does not make it so.  It may be difficult to get our questions answered.  We may never completely understand why something has occurred, but we can accept that it has.  In this way, we can learn from our experiences, we can leave the discontent behind, and move forward with a new understanding.

Always be you, Trisha

Are You Happy?

What does it mean to be happy?  We strive for happiness.  We envy those who are happy.  We spend hours reading books, watching programs, and listening to experts tell us what we need to do to be happy.  Still, it often times eludes us. What if being happy was as simple as accepting yourself and others?  What if for one week you decided that you are exactly who you should be and that feeling happy is already something within you?  I wonder how this might change how you move through the world.  You may have guessed that today’s topic is about happiness.  Spirit has this to say about being happy…

Happiness always comes from a belief that you are happy. When you live your life in judgment of self, or in judgment of another, you are not opening to the possibility that you are just how you were intended, and that others are the same. Seeing yourself as someone who is here to serve the whole, meaning the energy of the universe, is really the only way to understand yourself and others.

Look at the world and all of its inhabitants. There are so many reasons for being. This is what brings balance to the earth. With your existence comes the experience of emotions. Without one emotion, you cannot have the other. There would not be a recognition of good versus bad, or pain and sorrow versus happiness and joy. These are all of the things that make up the world.

Understand that loving yourself is what brings the world into balance and that loving others for who they are, brings balance to you. When we give love freely without judgment, we are saying that we believe all are innately good, and that the destruction of self is from the mind, not the heart, not the spirit, and not the pure essence of your soul. Think about this. How are you affecting the world? How are you affecting your very being? Use the power of your thoughts to convert a negative view into a positive one.

Find what is right in the world. Accept yourself and all that you are. This is how the world will be brought back into balance. This is how the world will change. This is how you will find true happiness.

It really can be that simple.  Start today.  Give it a week, a month, or a year. See how happiness shows up for you.

Are You Fully Present?

Happy spring! We often associate spring with cleaning our homes and preparing our gardens so that we can enjoy our surroundings.  What if enjoying our surroundings involved more than just using our five senses?  I have been thinking about what it really means to be fully present in my life. When I think of being fully present, I think of looking at the flowers, listening to the birds, and being fully in the moment. I tell my mind to stop all the chatter. I wonder why it is so hard to just be?  Spirit has a lot to say about this very topic…

There is this thought that being fully present means to use your five senses to notice all that surrounds a person.  This can be true to some extent, but we have a different view.  Being fully present is to see yourself as whole. To see yourself as just what your soul intended, without the thoughts of “I am not fully what I want to be.”

When you believe that you have been born to be just as you are inside, you begin to see the world as a way for you to express your true self.  You see that you have something to contribute because of who you are, not because of what you have become.  This is a very important distinction.  The acceptance of who you are is what will propel you down the road of being fully present.

When you live your life knowing that what is inside is much more important than what you think others will see, being fully present becomes something that does not require thought.  It does not require training.  It only requires being.  Life becomes full of joy.  The joy comes from not working so hard to attain a certain state of being.  Life just becomes being fully present.  You are able to notice without effort. You experience all that your life has to offer.

This is not to say that when you understand and experience being fully present that there will not be challenges, for life will always have challenges.  It is to say that the challenge to be fully present and to exist as you believe others want you to exist, no longer becomes important.  You are free to live your life as intended.  For this is truly what will bring you to peace within.

As spring unfolds and you prepare your surroundings, think of how you can be fully present in your own life.  Think about how you can fully accept yourself.  Doesn’t that seem like a much more desirable way to enjoy spring?

Always be you, Trisha

Our World

Today I want to talk about the state of our world.  It seems like every day there is conflict somewhere.  Watching the news can be very upsetting!  I lay awake at night worrying about the state of our nation.  I wonder why we can’t just live peaceful lives.  I wonder why the world has so much turmoil.  Spirit has a different view of this…

We do not look at this as turmoil.  We look at this as growth. Growth of a nation, growth of a soul, growth of the world, and its awareness of suffering. Without this, you would not have an understanding of your own life and how it should be. For there to be peace, there needs to be an understanding of what you are striving for. The suffering comes to those who believe that only their best interests matters.

If you were to look at the world as a whole, you would see that each and every one of you is made up of the same. Where you become different is in your reactions to your circumstance. This is why there is turmoil.  This is why there is pain.  This is why there is contentment and happiness too.

Each of us, within or own life, has the wisdom within us to influence our circumstance, to bring goodness to all, and to react in a way that is best for our soul. Spend time thinking about this. What is best for your soul ultimately influences those around you in a positive way. This is how turmoil dissipates, this is how you begin to see that there can be more than suffering. This is when enlightenment comes.

Thinking about this has made me re-evaluate how I take in negativity.  Instead of looking at turmoil as something that is hopeless, this makes me feel hopeful.  I believe there are more people in the world who truly want peace, than those that do not. I believe there are more people in the world that are good, than those who are not.  Most of all, I know we all have the ability to look at the world in a positive light and bring forward our own best self to influence all.

Until next time–always be you, Trisha

Life’s Journey

Happy 2019!  With the start of the new year, we all have a chance to look at our lives in a new way.  We can evaluate where we have been and think about where we are going.  Let’s talk about what we can do individually to not only do what is best for ourselves, but give others a chance to do the same.  Sometimes it is so easy to see what other people may need to do to end their discontent. We may think we know what is best for them, but in reality only they can know what is best for them.  Here is what Spirit has to say about this very subject…

When we allow ourselves and others the space they need to learn and enlighten, we are saying that this is an integral part of being human.  It is important to the well-being of not only you, but others as well. This is truly why we are here.  There is a unique set of circumstances that exist for each person. Their lives unfold in ways that are for their own advancement. We are here to support one another in our journey through this life–for it is never without challenges. When you spend the time you need to process what you have experienced in your life and you allow others to do the same, you are raising the energy of all involved.  You are contributing to the enlightenment of all concerned.  This can only bring positive energy to the universe as a whole.

There is this thought that others should be like us, others should fulfill us in every capacity.  We are saying these are what you have imposed on them.  Learning to see your life as your own and letting go of the need to control or to get approval is really the key here.  Treat others as they should be treated; with compassion, kindness, and forgiveness.  For this is truly what we need from one another.  As you let go of the control of others, as you bring in the compassion and forgiveness, your life unfolds in ways you would never have imagined for yourself.  See that your life is for your own learning.  See that other’s lives are for the same.  This is how we all advance as one.

In our quest to help another, we often tell ourselves that we know what is best for them.  We tell others what they should think or do.  It is hard to watch someone struggle. It is hard to disagree. We all want to feel heard and seen as an individual. I certainly have been guilty of offering advice when none is needed. Sometimes it just takes someone who will listen.  Maybe that is all a person needs.  The more I understand that we are each on our own journey, the more I understand that being a true friend is to listen without judgement.

Until next time–always be you, Trisha

Consciousness and You

As the year comes to an end, it’s important to reflect on how far we have come.  We have talked about getting in touch with your inner self, forgiveness, how energy works, and our thoughts, etc… What I want to talk about today is consciousness and how it affects the universe as a whole.  For some of you, this will not be new information.  For others it will help put the pieces together.  It is a concept that is not always easy to understand, but it is the foundation for all teachings.  In its simplest form, it is to teach us why it is so important to be positive in thought and action.

What is universal consciousness?  Why do we need to be conscious?  How does it affect our lives?  These are all very good questions.  Consider the answer from Spirit’s point of view…

As people wake up to the possibility that they have complete control over their own thoughts and their own consciousness, there is a realization that the thoughts they think are a reflection of how they live their life.  It is so important to recognize the impact each person has on not only their own life, but those around them too.

Universal consciousness is made up of all of the thoughts, energy, and enlightenment that exists.  If you were to imagine all of the thoughts of your loved ones, friends, neighbors, and every person in the world and combine them with all of the energy of our world, you would understand that this is the power of the universe.  We each emit a vibration of energy. When your thoughts are of love, compassion, and a deep connection to your own soul, this raises the energy in the universe. The thoughts that are negative, full of resentment, and anger lower the energy of the universe.

The goal is to convert the negative to a positive by understanding that your thoughts influence all.  Your actions influence all.  Your very being influences all. This collective thought and collective energy, has a far-reaching effect on the universe.  Together we call this the universal consciousness of all. So you see that we are all connected to one another.  Our very being is dependent on one another.  Our future is based on each life and the positive charge it brings to all.

Being in this world is to enlighten. It is to create a positive charge.  Each individual has the ability to effect the consciousness of the universe. If you were to see the connection, it would propel you forward in a positive way. You would never want to leave your energy depleted.  You would only have thoughts of goodness.  You would understand that we are all connected forever, and you have the power to change a life for the better.  Most of all, you have the power to make your own life full of a grander consciousness.

My hope is that you will take some time to read and reflect on each paragraph.  Let these concepts be something you contemplate and strive to understand. Let your thoughts and actions be positive in nature, and remember that you are affecting the energy of the universe as a whole.

Hopefully, you can look at 2018 as a year in which you learned a little bit more about yourself. Maybe you learned a little bit more about the unseen world of spirit too.  As we head towards 2019, think of all of the possibilities that lie ahead.  Personally, I am going to try just a bit harder to be kind to myself, to treat others with more compassion, and to be grateful for a chance to start again.

Happy Holidays and I look forward to exploring more teachings with you in the coming year.

Always be you, Trisha

Who Are You?

Let’s talk about the exploration of self.  As an intuitive life coach, my sessions usually begin by asking the client why they came to see me and what it is they hope to learn?  Invariably, the answer comes in some form of “I want to understand why I am here.”  I believe that most people, including myself, have had trouble knowing where to begin this process.  I find that starting with understanding yourself and your actions is the best way. It can be hard to look honestly at yourself.  It requires a willingness to look deeply into what makes you tick. I really like the way spirit addresses this topic…

To explore one’s self is to let go of any attachment to what you think you should be. It is to look deeply into why you are here and your reactions to the world. We have talked about fear, anger, and feelings of unrest. Let’s talk about how to get to the true you, and how to bring that forward in a way that helps you understand your actions.

To explore or to look deeply means to identify what it is that keeps you reacting and feeling in a way that brings discontent to your life. What are the emotions behind the reactions? What are the emotions behind the feelings of discontent? Explore the possibility that how you are feeling is just a reaction to a thought about yourself.  If you were to look at this thought as something you have learned and can unlearn, you would see that the exploration can bring you to peace within.

Understanding your thoughts and why you have them is really the key to letting go of them. We are saying that exploration and reflection are an integral part of the learning in this life. As you reflect, as you look to your motivations, as you understand yourself, life begins to bring you joy. The joy comes from knowing yourself. The joy comes from accepting yourself. The joy comes from finally being you. Believe your life has a purpose. Understand that learning is what you came to do. Be open to any possibility, because truly, you exist to evolve into a greater version of yourself. The sooner you explore, the sooner the joy arrives.

When we allow ourselves an honest assessment of who we are and strive to better our place in the world, we open doors to the answers we seek.  As each door opens, another answer is waiting.  I chose this picture because it reminds me of what we can achieve. Each branch represents a growth opportunity as we explore our reason for being. This can ultimately help us to answer the question “Why am I here?” for ourselves.

As always, please share with your friends, family, or anyone else you think might enjoy reading this. Help me to spread light to the world!

What is Enlightenment?

Today’s topic is enlightenment.  A question that often comes up is “how do I become enlightened?”  People will often refer to this as something that happens to a person spontaneously–as if by magic. It certainly can be true that a major life event, such as the loss of a loved one or an illness, can propel you forward into a new way of thinking. For me, enlightenment is something that has happened more slowly, over time.  The more I am aware of my existence and that there is something beyond this world, the better I understand what enlightenment is. So, what does it mean to be enlightened?  What is the difference between enlightenment and awareness?  Here is the explanation from the spirit world…

Awareness comes from the thoughts of what is currently happening in your life.  You are aware that you exist, that you are a thinking being, and that in your life you have choices.  Enlightenment is when you understand that there is more than just this life.  You believe that you are divinely guided and that you already have everything you need to have a peaceful life.

You cannot have enlightenment without first having an awareness.  You must have the awareness that there is a self, there is a physical body, and that you have thoughts.  You understand how those thoughts affect your life.  Once awareness has been brought forward, you can then begin the process of enlightenment.  It is learning about yourself and what you want for this life.  It is to trust that you are heading in the right direction.  It is to see that there is a connection in all things.  It is a deeper knowing of all that exists—seen and unseen.  It is the letting go of an expectation.  It is the bringing in of faith in all that is.  It is to move through the world with the ultimate goal of contributing in a positive way.  It is to listen to your inner voice, your soul, and the energy within to see what it wants and why you are here.

Enlightenment can only come from letting go of your thinking and trusting that your soul already knows where you are going.  It is to trust that there is something more than your present state of awareness.  Enlightenment is truly made up of joy, acceptance, and a willingness to move in any direction, knowing that you will have a positive impact on the energy of the universe as a whole.

Start with an awareness.  Expand to a knowing.  Let your life be all it was meant to be with the faith that you are loved and guided throughout.

The picture I choose was taken on a lovely fall hike along a river.  The sun was setting and I couldn’t help but notice that it was the perfect moment to capture what enlightenment might feel like.  Of course it is more than that, but it creates a good visual!

I hope you will take some time to think about these concepts and see how you can move towards a more enlightened life–free from suffering and tuned in to your spiritual self.

As always, please share with your friends, family, or anyone else you think might enjoy reading this (see share button below).

Can We Change Our Thoughts?

This is the last of the three part series on how your negative thoughts can bring discontent to your life, whereas positive thoughts can bring harmony. Last time we talked about how we all have a physical, mental, and spiritual side to our being.  Now let’s talk about what we can do to balance those three essential elements. How do you get unstuck from a way of thinking that is not good for your well-being? Here is what spirit has to say about bringing balance to your being by changing your thoughts…

You start with one thought at a time.  You begin the search for meaning. You look at what your thoughts are doing to help you.  The thoughts you think determine how you will respond in any given situation.  If you were to look at these thoughts as a way to change your thinking about yourself, you would use it as a way to believe in yourself.  You would change a negative thought into a positive.  You would only generate thoughts that would help you for what lies ahead.  Look ahead to how you want to live and begin to change your thinking. You would trust that what you are experiencing now, will help you in the days to come.  This belief alone leaves you with no desire to have negative thoughts. This belief alone leaves you with a sense of peace in all that is.

Sounds so easy, doesn’t it?  Of course this takes effort.  We have to be aware of these thoughts in order to change them.  Another way to look at balancing is to have the belief that all is well.  Here is what spirit has to say about the belief in our ability to heal our bodies too…

Of course positive thought is a start, but a belief that all is well is really the way to change the pattern of thought.  When you believe that you have the power within for all of life’s teachings (we call them teachings because nothing is ever negative when looked at as a way to learn), this can help your body to heal.  When discontent has arrived, begin the process of balance.  Start with one thought at a time.  Convert the negative into a positive.  Believe this can be done.  Balance the energy within by giving your body what is needs through rest, forgiveness, being in nature, or anything that brings you joy.  Make this a practice every day, even if it is only one thing.  Over time, the energy within will shift. It will calm.  It will start to bring balance to all.

Thinking of the physical, mental, and spiritual as a way to balance really is about bringing awareness to your thoughts and believing that you have the power to change the energy within.  When I get out of balance, I always begin by being kind to my body, which in turn calms my mind, which in turn helps me feel connected to the my spiritual self.  What would help you to be in balance?  Start with your thoughts and see where that takes you.

I picked this picture not only for its beauty, but for the feeling I get when I hike in such a serene place.  This is how I find balance.  What do you do? I would love to hear from you!  Feel free to comment below or send me a quick email.  Let’s open the dialog about what brings you back into balance.

As always, please share with your friends, family, or anyone else you think might enjoy reading this (see share button below).
